Once upon a time there was a big novel, more than 900 pages, in two volumes and in large format. Novel titled “L’enfant de la déesse” (The Child of the Goddess). Well, can you imagine that I wanted to make a screenplay of it, because many pointed out to me the cinematographic qualities of this story. OK. So I wrote a screenplay adapted from the novel. Then, I said to myself that it might be interesting, for readers « who don’t have much time to read, » to extract from the script a little novel of 170 pages, alert and dynamic, which connects the most impactful scenes of the story, the beautiful story of the meeting, in India, between Paul and Jeevu, the little autistic girl and devadasi. It’s done. Good reading !
